Send files from computer to phone in seconds
BeamQR File Transfer moves photos, videos and documents directly between two browsers. Open this page on both devices, scan the QR code with your phone, choose your files and they arrive at their full original quality. There is no cloud upload, no account to create and no app to install.
It works between any combination of devices: iPhone to Windows laptop, Android to Mac, tablet to desktop, or one computer to another. All you need is a modern browser such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge on each device.
How to transfer files with BeamQR
- Open this page on the device that has the files, for example your laptop. A QR code appears under "Or scan to connect".
- Scan the QR code with the other device's camera. Tap the link that appears and BeamQR opens in the phone's browser.
- Wait for "Connection Active". This usually takes a few seconds. The two devices are now linked directly.
- Tap "Select Files to Send" and choose up to 10 photos, videos or documents. Files can go in either direction once connected.
- Download on the receiving device. Each file shows a download button when it arrives. Keep both tabs open until every file has finished.
Prefer to send a link instead? Drop your files in the box above and press Generate Share Link. You can copy the link or share it by WhatsApp, Telegram or email. The person receiving must open it while your tab is still open.
What makes it different from other file sharing
- Peer-to-peer: files travel device to device using WebRTC, the same browser technology used for video calls. Our server only helps the two devices find each other.
- No compression: messaging apps shrink photos and videos to save data. BeamQR sends the original file byte for byte, so a 12 MB photo arrives as a 12 MB photo.
- Nothing stored: files aren't uploaded or saved anywhere. On some strict networks a relay helps pass the encrypted data along, but it can't open or keep your files.
- Encrypted in transit: WebRTC connections are encrypted by design, so the data can't be read on the way.
- No limits set by us: no daily caps or size tiers. Very large files depend on your device's memory and connection speed.

Troubleshooting and questions
It's stuck on connecting. What should I do?
Both devices need an internet connection. Some office, school or hotel networks block direct connections; try switching one device to mobile data, then reload both pages.
The transfer stopped halfway.
The phone screen may have locked or the browser moved to the background. Keep the screen on and the BeamQR tab open during large transfers, then try again.
Where do downloaded files go on iPhone?
Open the Files app and look in Downloads. Photos and videos can be saved to your camera roll from there with the share button.
Is there a file size limit?
BeamQR doesn't set one. In practice, very large files (several GB) depend on how much memory the receiving device has available.
Do I need to install anything?
No. BeamQR runs entirely in the browser on both devices. No app, extension or account is needed.
Is it safe to send private files?
Yes. Files go straight from one device to the other over an encrypted connection and are never saved on our servers. Close the tab when you're done and the session ends.
