Privacy Policy

In short: BeamQR’s free tools are designed so we never see your content. Free QR codes are created in your browser, and files sent with File Transfer go directly between your devices without being stored by us. If you use BeamQR Pro, we store your account and dynamic codes so the service can work. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to show ads that keep the tools free.

Who we are

BeamQR (https://beamqr.pro) is a free website offering a QR Code Generator and a QR File Transfer tool. It is operated by Sahila Gupta. You can contact us at guptasahila125@gmail.com.

Information you put into our tools

QR Code Generator

QR codes are generated entirely in your web browser. The links, text, WiFi details, contact details and logos you enter are not sent to or stored by BeamQR. The codes we create are static, so we cannot see or track who scans them.

QR File Transfer

File Transfer uses WebRTC, a technology built into web browsers, to send files directly between two devices over an encrypted connection. Your files are not uploaded to or stored on our servers.

To connect two devices, a signalling service briefly exchanges technical connection information (such as a temporary session ID and network addresses). On some restrictive networks, a relay (TURN) server may forward the encrypted data between the devices. Relay servers cannot read the contents of your files and do not store them. These services are provided by third-party infrastructure providers and process only what is needed to make the connection.

When you close the BeamQR tab, the session ends. We keep no copy of your files or a history of what was sent.

BeamQR Pro accounts and dynamic QR codes

If you sign up for BeamQR Pro, we store your email address, a securely hashed password, your dynamic QR codes and their destinations, and your subscription status. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; we never see or store your card details. Dodo Payments shares with us only what we need to manage your subscription, such as your email address, plan and payment status.

When someone scans a dynamic QR code, we record the time of the scan and general device information (device type and browser) so the code’s owner can see statistics. We use the scanner’s IP address only briefly to prevent abuse and do not store it with the scan record. We don’t identify the people who scan codes.

You can delete your codes at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing us.

Information collected automatically

When you visit BeamQR, we and our partners may automatically collect standard technical information, such as:

  • IP address and approximate location (country or city level)
  • Browser type, device type and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent on pages and the website that referred you

We use this information to understand how the site is used, keep it secure and improve our tools. We may use Google Analytics for this purpose. You can learn how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. BeamQR and its partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixels) to:

  • make the website work properly and remember preferences, such as light or dark mode
  • measure visits and understand how the tools are used
  • show advertising and measure how ads perform

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Advertising

BeamQR is free because it is supported by advertising. Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. Learn more in How Google uses cookies in advertising.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about opting out of interest-based ads from many companies at aboutads.info and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Third-party services and content

To run the site, BeamQR loads some resources from trusted third parties, such as web fonts and open-source code libraries delivered through content delivery networks. When your browser loads these resources, the provider may receive your IP address and basic browser information, as with any website request.

Our guides may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Comments and contact messages

If you leave a comment on a guide, we collect the details shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser information to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service.

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We do not sell it or share it for marketing.

How long we keep information

  • Free QR code content and transferred files: not kept at all, because we never receive them.
  • Pro accounts and dynamic codes: kept while your account exists; deleted on request. Billing records are kept by Dodo Payments as required by tax law.
  • Comments: kept until they are deleted, so follow-up comments can be approved automatically.
  • Emails you send us: kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
  • Analytics and advertising data: kept by those providers according to their own retention policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent. This includes rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

To make a request, email guptasahila125@gmail.com. Because our tools don’t collect your content or require accounts, we usually hold very little personal data about visitors.

Children’s privacy

BeamQR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

File transfers use encrypted WebRTC connections, and the site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but our tools are designed to minimise the data that exists in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or partners. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
