Design a QR code people actually scan
BeamQR makes free QR codes for websites, WiFi, WhatsApp, social media, business cards, emails, text messages, phone calls, map locations, calendar events and plain text. Add a "Scan me" frame, choose rounded or dotted styles, set your colours or a gradient, place your logo in the middle and download a PNG, SVG or PDF.
There's no account, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make. The code is built in your browser and checked with a scanner before you download, so you know it works.
How to make your QR code
- Choose what it opens. A link, WiFi, a WhatsApp chat, your Instagram, a contact card, an event and more.
- Add a frame. A short call to action such as "Scan for menu" or "Order on WhatsApp" tells people why to scan.
- Pick a shape and colours. Keep the dots dark and the background light. We warn you if the contrast is too low.
- Add your logo. It sits in the centre and the code automatically uses the strongest error correction.
- Check and download. Wait for the green "Scan check passed" badge, then download. Use SVG or PDF for printing.
Which file should I download?
| Format | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Instagram, WhatsApp, websites, Word, Canva | Works everywhere. Choose up to 3000 px for large prints. |
| SVG | Designers, sign makers, packaging | A vector file that stays sharp at any size, from a sticker to a billboard. |
| Print shops, office printers | Ready to send to a printer, sized to your design. |

Tips for a QR code that always scans
- Dark on light. Dark dots on a light background work on every phone. Light dots on a dark background often fail.
- Keep the logo modest. Around a fifth of the code's width is the safe maximum.
- Leave space around it. Don't put text or images right against the code.
- Print it big enough. At least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) for a table card. For a poster, make it about a tenth of the scanning distance.
- Test with two phones, ideally one iPhone and one Android, before printing hundreds.
Questions
Is BeamQR really free?
Yes. Every type, frame, shape, colour, logo option and download format is free, with no account and no watermark.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. These are static codes: the information is stored in the pattern itself, so they work as long as the link or details inside are valid.
Is there a scan limit?
No. Static codes have no scan limit.
Can I use them commercially?
Yes, on menus, packaging, flyers, signs and ads. No credit needed.
Why does the scan check fail?
Usually low contrast, light dots on a dark background, a very large logo or a very long link. Try square dots, darker colours or a smaller logo.
Do you store what I type?
No. The code is made in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to BeamQR.
No website? No problem.
Upload your menu photo or PDF to BeamQR Pro. We host it, give you a QR code, and customers can order on WhatsApp in one tap.
